Today’s Top Ten list really made me think – that is after the top book on my list. No doubt Sweetbitter has blown everything else I’ve read this year away. I’m still thinking about it! Thanks to the Broke and the Bookish for this topic!
- Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler
- Tender by Brenda McKeon
- Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire
- A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab
- The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner
- Nimona by Noelle Stevenson
- The Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susan
- The Guest Room by Chris Bohjalian
- Chaos Choreography by Seanan McGuire
- Five Days at Memorial by Sheri Fink
What’s at the top of your list so far? I think I should make Holly come post her top ten this year soon too!
I haven’t read any of these. I haven’t read any 2016 release at all.I bought some but they are still in my bookshelves.
My TTT.
I definitely have some recent purchases waiting for me to pick up too! There should be more reading hours in the day!
THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS!!!
I really need to get my hands on Sweetbitter eh?
The ones that come to mind for me (that I’ve read this year, not that have come out this year) are Tiny Beautiful Things, Bad Feminist, The Swans of Fifth Avenue, Truly Madly Guilty, and Missoula. And The Mathematician’s Shiva. The Nest! And I loved The Name Therapist.
…quit while I’m ahead right?
You really do need to try Sweetbitter! Get it on your library list! I seriously need to put Tiny Beautiful Things on hold. I was going to buy it but am trying to be good! The Swans is staring at my every night from my bookshelf – I need to get to it. Missoula – I know will be so good but I’m afraid!
I loved Nimona. And everyone is listing The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner. I need to get my act together and read it!
Oh it is so good! Heartbreaking – but excellent!
I haven’t read any of these, but I’ve heard great things about Sweetbitter and The Serpent King!
Are these in rank order?! Just curious 🙂 And I’ve had 5 Days at Memorial on my backlist TBR forever…was thinking about checking it out of the library as one of my back-up vacation books.
Hmm. 1 & 2 I think are definitely rank order. After that it would be hard to assign. 5 Days at Memorial was the rare nonfic that I was reading before bed because I was so into it. Really made me think. I was afraid it was going to be a very emotional and physically disturbing book and didn’t find it to be that.
Sweetbitter is on my TBR. It sounds fantastic! I’ve also heard good things about The Serpent King and A Gathering of Shadows.
Nice list 😀 I would have a Schwab on my list too
Now I need to read more of her stuff!
I just commented on Sarah’s post with the same thing, but you two raving about Sweetbitter has me so curious, especially for all the delicious food bits!
I also read Nimona and adored it this year. 🙂
it was delicious! I do feel you’d love it too!
Yeah I should get on that, yo.
word. do it.
I keep putting The Serpent King on hold because eeek snakes! But it’s been on so many lists this week maybe I need to be brave and pick it up.
I promise it’s worth it!
Oo, I have been seeing Sweetbitter around, I need to add that to my list of must-reads for the year 🙂 And I may be the last person ever to read A Gathering of Shadows, but I WILL get to it! Great list 🙂
Oh yes do add Sweetbitter! I am dying for a Conjuring of Light Now – AGOS was that good.
Wow, two by Seanan Maguire! That is a very strong recommendation of her as an author!
Basically I’m obsessed. It’s a problem I don’t want to solve.
Wow. Sweetbitter as number one? I guess I better hurry up and get to it!
doooooooooo it!
